Games
Name scramble: The hostess prepared a list of popular baby names and then scrambled them. Guests then tried to unscramble the names, i.e., Emily - limey, Madison - amsindo, Hailey - yalehi, Kaitlyn - anykilt, Hannah - ahhnna, Sarah - arash, Brianna - bannair, Ashley - halsey, Alexis - saxlie, Abigail - aliabig, Jacob - acjbo, Michael - claimhe, Matthew - themtaw, Joshua - suhaoj, Nicholas - chaosnil, Christopher - choirsperth, Joseph - peshoj, Ethan - thane, Andrew - wander, Daniel – nailed. A prize was awarded to the first person who unscrambled the most names in the time provided.
Memory game: The hostess prepared picture cards of around 40 baby items. She then held each card up briefly in front of the guests. The guests tried to name (on paper) as many of the items as they could remember in the shortest possible time. A prize was awarded to the person who remembered the most items in the time provided.
Pictionary: The hostess prepared a list of objects/actions related to pregnancy, birth and/or babies. The guests were divided into pairs and the hostess gave one person in each pair a piece of paper with one of the anonymous objects/actions written on it. In turn, these people were asked to draw their object/action. A prize was awarded to the first pair that guessed what the picture was.
Baby Food Taste Test: The hostess brought 6 different types of baby foods and assigned each an anonymous number. Then she placed a spoonful of the 6 foods types onto disposable plates and wrote the corresponding number next to each spoonful of food. Each guest was asked to taste the 6 food types and write down their guess as to what each number was. A prize was awarded to the person with the most correct matches.
A Face only Mama could love: Each guest was asked to bring a baby picture of themselves. Upon arrival, the hostess took the baby pictures and assigned each picture a number. Each guest was given a piece of paper and told to match the adult guest name with the corresponding baby picture. A prize was awarded to the person who with the most correct matches.
Notes: Gifts were presented to all guests. Patty, Angela and myself spent the Friday before the shower party buying small gifts (candles, soaps, lavender bags, etc), and wrapping them at Angela’s over a lovely home cooked meal.

Angela – Baby record book (“The Original Peter Rabbit Baby Book”); and a hat with matching booties (yellow with blue butterflies) from MESA
Patty – Silver spoon.
Anne – Soft toy seal; training cup; bath thermometer; powder; face washers; snappies; safety pins (all beautifully wrapped with card designed by Anne)
Illona – White summer suit with green rabbit on it; booties; and an interactive material book (“Pooh Bear & Friends”).
Sheree – Farm yard animals suit with matching coat.
Lisa – Bear photo album; hooded towel; a basket of clothes; and a bounce-a-net.
Barbara – Felt book hand puppet (“Bye-Bye Bear”).
Joe – Flannel wraps; singlets; bibs; booties, mittens and hats.
Notes: The gifts were absolutely lovely. Everyone was so very thoughtful and generous. It was great fun opening the gifts for all to see.
